Silk Midi Skirt: How It's Done

There are two things that are certain this summer: 1, there will be sun and 2, there will be midi skirts. Easily the hottest trend on every it girl's radar, the silky, satiny uber flattering midi skirt is the pick of the bunch when it comes to effortless styling, and it's not hard to see why.

It's no secret that leopard print is the streetstyle approved print of choice for your midi - but printed or block coloured - whatever your go-to, the sleek silhouette, length and high waist will make styling a breeze.

Styling for daytime (brunch, family bbq or cute picnic date) is pretty simple if you've got your key basics on hand. A black or white tee, bodysuit or streamlined ab-flashing cropped tank will keep it low-key and let your skirt do all the talking.

If you're not afraid of a little attention, we recommend a band tee or go full fashion gal when it gets chilly with an oversized knit or grungy bomber.

When it comes to balmy summer night styling nothing says sultry temptress like a satin midi skirt. A lace bodysuit or mesh tee will give it the dressy vibes it deserves, and to make things a little more extra - go for tonal colours with your top half (e.g. nude with pink, baby blue with teal) for a look that's one to remember.

Following on from the cues of style meeting comfort, we are loving the fact that footwear of choice for the midi skirt seems to be (yep, you guessed it) the sneaker. Vans, Cons, Supergas or some killer dad shoes, you already have these in your closet and they'll take your look to cool-girl status - rather than something along the lines of what Nan would be ok with (no ballet flats, thanks).

If you're occasion has a strict no sneaker policy, go for chunky platform slides, a lace-up boot or those strappy heels you've been waiting to bust out.
